A sound foundation in canine assessment is essential. Yet many practitioners find that some aspects of hindlimb assessment only become fully meaningful once they are working independently with cases that do not present neatly.
You may understand the anatomy and have covered the relevant material in training, but bringing individual findings together into a clear working clinical hypothesis can still be difficult in practice. That is precisely the gap this workshop is designed to address.
The Canine Hindlimb: Advanced Clinical Assessment Workshop is a practical two-day CPD workshop for vets, veterinary practitioners, animal osteopaths and experienced canine clinical professionals who want to assess complex hindlimb cases with greater structure, clarity and confidence.
A dog may present with altered gait, reduced performance, apparent lameness, pelvic asymmetry, compensatory spinal loading, neurological considerations, or palpation findings that do not quite align with the wider presentation. In these cases, confidence does not come from trying harder to guess the answer. It comes from having a clearer, more systematic assessment process.
Across the two days, we will explore how palpation, passive movement assessment, muscle testing, functional anatomy and clinical reasoning can be brought together, so that hands-on findings become more useful in practice.
This workshop is designed to help you:
- Build a more systematic approach to canine hindlimb assessment.
- Improve confidence with palpation and passive movement testing.
- Distinguish more clearly between local findings and compensatory patterns.
- Strengthen clinical reasoning when signs do not appear straightforward.
- Return to practice with assessment techniques you can apply immediately.
The workshop is intentionally small, practical and discussion-led, with dog models and close guidance throughout. As the training is hands-on and places are limited, applications include a brief suitability check to ensure the workshop is appropriate for each delegate.
